Each year the Foundation asks for nominations from students, staff, parents, and community members, so we can recognize some of the most outstanding teachers in Lawrence. We were excited to have the opportunity today to represent a group of community leaders who came up with a really great idea more than 20 years ago to recognize educators in a BIG way. All of the members of this group share the same first name – Bob. The Bobs choose to remain anonymous to shine the light on a special educator. Every spring the Foundation is fortunate to present The Bobs Award to a fantastic teacher. This year, The Bobs Award honors someone who has made an incredible impact in the lives of so many students and Quail Run families over the years. Congratulations to our 2020 Award Recipient, Quail Run 2nd Grade Teacher, Kaitlin Shulman. A peer wrote, ““Unbeknown to them, this teacher changes the lives of parents and guardians relative to their students’ academic progress by helping them understand how to better support and enhance learning at home. Being a parent is not easy, especially during a time of such tremendous academic growth, and they help parents navigate the achievement of, and growth towards, academic milestones with ease.” A parent wrote, “My son comes home each and every day telling me about their lessons. His thirst for constant knowledge is something that is new this year. I truly believe his ongoing desire to learn is a testament to their lessons and his teachers love for teaching.” Mrs. Shulman was surprised at her home this morning and presented with a check for $10,000, surrounded by a yard filled with current and previous students, parents and athletes showing their love and support. Congrats Mrs. Shulman!
