The late Dr. Carl Knox, Lawrence superintendent of schools from 1962 to 1984, believed that district staff should have resources to continue their learning so that students benefit from the best teaching methods and knowledge available. At the time of his retirement, his colleagues and friends began an endowed fund in his name, which continues to provide funding for Lawrence Public Schools staff development.
Each year the Foundation receives many requests from teachers who want to continue their education and enhance their teaching skills. The Foundation committee has a difficult task of selecting from among many worthy applicants. If you would like to support our teachers and students in the Lawrence Public Schools, consider making a contribution to the Carl Knox Staff Development Fund.
