Concert to benefit Lawrence Public Schools music programs
Contact: Edith Clowes at eclowes@ku.edu

Lawrence High School and Free State High School musicians will perform concertos on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vermont.
The program will include:
Violin Concerto A Minor 1st Movement by Vivaldi
Violin Concerto No.3 in G major by Mozart
Oboe Concerto in F Minor by G. P. Telemann (mvts. II and I in that order)
Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor by Bach (first movement).
Concerto in G Major for Two Flutes and Piano by Domenico Cimarosa
Cello Concerto by Saint-Saens

Admission is free. Donations received at the event will help fund the Lawrence Schools Foundation Music Endowment. Grants are awarded annually from the fund to Lawrence Public Schools music educators who apply for funding for materials and activities that will enrich and enhance music education. The first round of grants, dispersed last spring, funded the purchase of guitars and accessories for a guitar lab at Deerfield Elementary, small group orchestra lessons at South Junior High and also provided funding for the all-city junior high jazz band.
Community members are invited to enjoy fresh baked desserts, tea and coffee after the concert in the Mayflower Room of the church.
The Lawrence Schools Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that raises money to enrich the education of the students in the Lawrence Public Schools.  Through the generation and management of gifts, the Foundation seeks to promote and enhance effective early childhood education, innovative teaching and learning opportunities, recognition of outstanding teachers and staff, and encouragement of student achievement.
